Esta reglamentaci\u00f3n fija l\u00edmites a la cantidad de azufre que puede contener el combustible usado por los buques. La marcada fecha se hab\u00eda venido se\u00f1alando en verde desde hace un tiempo por parte de los transportadores mar\u00edtimos, por ser una norma medioambiental.<br \/>\nIndudablemente la IMO 2020 aprobada por la Organizaci\u00f3n Mar\u00edtima Internacional (organismo dependiente de Naciones Unidas), es una buena noticia para el planeta. Pero para el sector mar\u00edtimo \u00bfQu\u00e9 puede implicarle?<\/p>\n<h1>El tema principal<\/h1>\n<p>La regulaci\u00f3n obliga a los barcos a moverse con combustible cuyo contenido en azufre no exceda del 0.5% en peso. Hasta antes del 1 de enero de 2020 el l\u00edmite de azufre era de 3.5% en peso.<br \/>\nEl principal objetivo es lograr una dr\u00e1stica reducci\u00f3n de las emisiones de \u00f3xido de azufre que est\u00e1n destruyendo la capa de ozono e incrementando la contaminaci\u00f3n ambiental.<br \/>\nLa norma es un paso decisivo para que a partir de 2020 se inicie la descarbonizaci\u00f3n del transporte como meta final fijada para el a\u00f1o 2050.<\/p>\n<h1>La IMO 2020: sus ventajas y desventajas<\/h1>\n<p>La nueva normativa implica todo un reto para el sector mar\u00edtimo tanto en el \u00e1rea de transporte como de log\u00edstica. Un reto pues se requiere la toma de decisiones arriesgadas ante la incertidumbre alrededor de los futuros precios de los combustibles y los cambios de regulaci\u00f3n que pueden darse en el transcurso del tiempo.<br \/>\nSi se habla del corto plazo es probable que los fletes del transporte mar\u00edtimo internacional se incrementen y se le ajusten algunos recargos que financien los cambios que se deben hacer. Este hecho implica una excelente planificaci\u00f3n por parte de las operaciones log\u00edsticas para lograr obtener tarifas competitivas tanto para exportadores como importadores.<br \/>\nLa conciencia medioambiental es otro factor que afecta al sector. Y esto implica que debe asumir un gran esfuerzo para lograr ofrecer al mercado un transporte de mercanc\u00eda m\u00e1s sostenible, limpio y amigable con el planeta.<br \/>\nPor su parte la aplicaci\u00f3n de la norma por parte del transporte mar\u00edtimo entre puertos espa\u00f1oles hace suponer que se usar\u00e1n combustibles m\u00e1s costosos que el actual fueloil. Se estima que el cambio de combustible suponga un incremento del 12% al 14% en la estructura de costes totales por l\u00ednea y por buque.<br \/>\nAs\u00ed mismo la Organizaci\u00f3n Mar\u00edtima Internacional, IMO, ha manifestado en varias ocasiones que no se producir\u00e1 ning\u00fan aplazamiento de la aplicaci\u00f3n de la norma ni flexibilizaci\u00f3n en la estrategia de sostenibilidad.<br \/>\nDe hecho el plan estrat\u00e9gico de la IMO incorpora gradualmente nuevas limitaciones para los a\u00f1os venideros en cuanto a emisiones de las embarcaciones, entre otros aspectos medioambientales.<\/p>\n<h1>Qu\u00e9 combustibles usar para cumplir con la IMO<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>En t\u00e9rminos generales para que las compa\u00f1\u00edas mar\u00edtimas puedan cumplir con la IMO 2020 pueden considerar usar diferentes opciones de combustibles:<\/li>\n<li>Emplear gasoil (MGO) o combustibles bajos en azufre Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO).<\/li>\n<li>Usar los scrubbers (sistemas de limpieza de los gases consumidos).<\/li>\n<li>Utilizar Gas Natural Licuado (GNL) u otros combustibles con bajo contenido en azufre como los biocombustibles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Desde el 1 de enero de 2020 entr\u00f3 en vigor la normativa IMO 2020.
